Founded in 1988 De Soutter Medical is a leading European manufacturer of surgical power tools. Our goal is to develop and produce advanced surgical cutting solutions for a rapidly changing global healthcare market. We strive to offer our customers a comprehensive range of quality products, which are both technically innovative whilst also representing optimal long-term value.
Sales and Distribution
The company has established direct sales organisations in the UK, Germany, Italy and Austria, with two new European branch offices being set up more recently in France and Belgium. During 2011 we opened our first non-European sales company in Melbourne, Australia to help service the growing Australasian market. The rest of the world is serviced with an ever-growing network of specialist distribution partners, which currently extends to more than 60 countries.
The De Soutter Medical product range is primarily focused on the orthopaedics and trauma marketplace with our instruments being used for both large and small bone surgery. We also manufacture powered instruments for arthroscopy, maxillo-facial, oral, ENT, cardiothoracic, neuro, spinal and plastics procedures. Our surgical range comprises both modular and dedicated instruments with a choice of battery, electric or pneumatic power options. Additionally we produce a full range of cast removal systems and autopsy saws. All De Soutter Medical surgical instrument systems are complimented with an extensive range of sterile packed consumables including the Stericut line of burs and blades and the unique ECO Pulse lavage system.
Manufacturing and Quality
Our products are manufactured to the highest quality standards at our purpose built Aston Clinton facility by skilled assembly technicians and test engineers. This site also houses our clean room packaging plant, which processes our sterile packed blades, burs and drills. These products are supplied to our customers, on a next day delivery service, via our logistics centre.
Most mechanical component parts are machined at our Tewkesbury facility using the latest CNC turning, grinding and machining centres. We believe this ‘in house’ philosophy significantly helps control the manufacturing processes which in turn enables the company to better meet its commitment to the various rigorous international quality standards. The company is accredited to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 and all our products comply with the appropriate European CE marking Medical Directives. Likewise most products are FDA registered.
